Foster Beyers is active as an educator, conductor, and performer. Currently a Sample Fellow in
conducting at the University of Minnesota, he leads the Campus Orchestra and conducted the
University Opera production of Stravinsky’s Le Rossignol in November of 2009. Mr. Beyers comes to
Minnesota from Chicago where he served as Music Director of the Ravenswood Community Orchestra
and Assistant Director of Choirs at Kenilworth Union Church. He was also member of Victor
Yampolsky’s conducting studio at Northwestern University where he received a Master of Music in
Orchestral Conducting. Previously, Mr. Beyers served as music director of the Green Bay Symphony
Youth Orchestras. During his tenure he established a chamber music program, led two sold out
children’s concerts for 4000 area 4th graders and recorded a CD of music by Mussourgsky which was
aired statewide on Wisconsin Public Radio. He also taught band and orchestra in the Green Bay
Public schools for five years.
Mr. Beyers remains in demand as a conductor and has led orchestras including the Green Bay
Symphony, St.Louis Youth Symphony, Northshore Chamber Orchestra, Skokie Valley Symphony, the
Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra and the Jugendorchester Stuttgart. As an educator he has led the Merit
School of Music Symphony Orchestra and the Music Institute of Chicago Junior Academy Orchestra
and will lead the 2010 Minnesota Middle Level Honors Orchestra. Recently Mr. Beyers was appointed
as Director of the Seward Concert Band in Minneapolis.
